Testimonials: Scholars

"Having been on the scheme since the end of 2009, it is hard to imagine the musician I would be had I not been chosen to take part. First and foremost the standard of my piano playing has come on in leaps and bounds since when I first started. I would have never before dreamt of passing a diploma with distinction, becoming West Suffolk's Young Musician of the Year, or performing Prokofiev's 3rd Sonata. This has been made possible by a combination of expert tuition every three or so weeks in London, intense residential courses and hard work, all under the guidance of Richard Meyrick. Pianoman has also played a major part in getting me to Oxford University where I read Music."

John Young,

"I joined the Pianoman Scholarships programme in November 2011, having just begun work on my Grade 8 pieces. Since joining and benefitting from Richard's 1:1 tutelage combined with the regular residential courses, I have completed both my grade 8, achieving a 142 Distinction, and in December 2013, my ATCL Diploma (Distinction). Through the Pianoman programme, I have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic teachers and with students of a similar age, who share a mutual passion for the piano.”

Michael Cullen,

"I am lucky enough to have been a part of the Pianoman family for nearly 3 years now, and am still extremely grateful for the lifechanging experience. It has become such a major part of my life and I love it so much, I don't know what I would do without it! The whole experience is increasing my own self-confidence as an individual, musician and performer. If you are offered this incredible opportunity, grasp it with both hands!"

Olivia Clarke,

"Ever since I was invited to join the Pianoman scheme I have never run out of inspiration. In fact, it was Richard who sparked my ambitious goal of becoming a concert pianist. Every lesson and minute under Richard's unique and invaluable teaching methods has improved my playing beyond compare, in my first year on Pianoman, Richard had taken me from grade 5 to playing Prokofiev’s 1st Piano Concerto with a professional orchestra at a concert in London. I have met some of the most amazing people who I very much hope will stay in my life forever. Pianoman has transformed me as a person and as a musician; it has changed my life.”
